Hoofddorp is the main town in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer in North Holland in the Netherlands. Hoofddorp was founded in 1853 when the Haarlemmermeer was drained. There are only 78,000 residents in Hoofddorp in 2009.

There are also buses that travel from Hoofddorp to other cities and places like Amsterdam Zuid railway station to Getseworld and Uithoom and Amsterdam Iijbug. An unlikely material was used to build the bus station at Spaarne Hospital in Hoofddorp. This is the world’s biggest structure built from synthetic materials like factory-cut polystyrene foam with a polyester skin.
Hoofddorp is also connected via main roads in the country. The A5 traverses the town that leads to Haarlem, Amsterdam and The Hague. Government offices have made Hoofddorp their home. The Netherlands Aviation Safety Board had its offices in the town. The Dutch Transport Safety Board was established as a successor agency and the Aviation Safety Board merged with this agency.
