Amstelveen is a municipality located in the province of North Holland in the Netherlands. It is a part of the suburban part of Amsterdam and consists of several villages or districts like Amstelveen, Bovenkerk, Westwijk, Groenelaan and Randwijk to name a few. The name of the municipality actually comes from Anstel which is a river found in the area and the word veen which is local for fen or moor.
